Eligibility Criteria

Category A: For Members of Indian Forest Service:

• A serving member of Indian Forest Service having completed 26 years of service with reference to year of allotment.
• At least 5 years research experience on posts in Forestry Research.
• The time spent in obtaining Ph.D. degree shall not be counted towards this minimum required research experience, unless the officer has held charge of regular post in Forestry Research concurrently.
• Desirable: Doctoral Degree.

Category B: For Scientists:

• First Class Master's Degree in Basic Sciences/Agriculture & Allied Sciences/Forestry & Allied Sciences and other related disciplines from a recognized University.
• 26 years of service with reference to the date of appointment as Group 'A' Scientist.
• 15 years experience in Forestry Research.
• The time spent in obtaining Ph.D. degree shall not be counted towards this minimum required research experience, unless the Scientist has held charge of a regular post in Forestry Research concurrently.
• Desirable: Doctoral Degree.

Important Instructions

• The Director General, ICFRE, with the approval of the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change can transfer the incumbent working on the post of Director in the Council to another post of Director as per requirement.
• Officers appointed to these posts shall be liable to serve anywhere in India.
• Tenure: The tenure of deputation shall ordinarily be five years or till superannuation, whichever is earlier, and as per guidelines of the Government of India.
• "Cooling off" period for the posts shall be as per guidelines of the Government of India.
• IFS officers who have not completed the mandatory "Cooling off" period in their parent cadre between two spells of deputation as on the date of eligibility will not be considered for the post.
• If an officer given an appointment does not report either on his own volition or at the instance of the Cadre authority, he would be debarred from consideration for a post for a period of 5 years.
• Application and the envelope should be superscripted as "Application for the post [name of post applied for] against Advt. No. 03/Dir-RFRI/2026-ICFRE".
• Incomplete applications in any respect shall be summarily rejected.
• In no case will the Council be responsible for non-receipt of applications or any delay in receipt thereof on any account whatsoever.
• No application received after the stipulated last date will be entertained under any circumstances and all late applications will be summarily rejected.
• The candidate must submit their application through proper channel.
• The concerned department/organization should enclose vigilance clearance report in 13 point CVC format and Annual Confidential Reports for the last seven years (2018-19 to 2024-2025) while forwarding the applications.
