Eligibility Criteria
Nationality:
- Candidate must be a citizen of India.
- Tax Assistant (TA): 18 to 27 years
- Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS): 18 to 25 years
- Age Relaxation: 05 years for UR/OBC, 10 years for SC/ST (as per DOPT OM No. DOPT-1720781414772 dated 04.03.2024)
- Tax Assistant (TA): A Degree from a recognized University or an equivalent qualification.
- Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS): Matriculation (Class 10) pass or equivalent qualification from a recognized Board.
Sports Eligibility:
- Sportspersons who have represented a State or the Country in National or International competition; or
- Medal winners in Junior National Championships; or
- Medal winners in Khelo India Youth Games (age category above 18 years); or
- Khelo India Winter Games or Khelo India Para Games; or
- Medal winners in Khelo India University Games; or
- Medal winners in School Games Federation of India (SGFI).
- Sports achievements considered between 01.01.2022 to 30.06.2026.

Selection Process
- Stage 1: Scrutiny of applications for eligibility (nationality, age, educational qualification, sports achievements).
- Stage 2: Shortlisting based on best performances from 01.01.2022 to 30.06.2026.
- Stage 3: Document Verification (Original documents required).
- Stage 4: Ground / Field Proficiency Test.
- Stage 5: Data Entry Skill Test (for Tax Assistant only - @8000 key depressions per hour).
- Final Selection: Strictly in Order of Merit based on sports achievements and proficiency test.
- First preference: International competition representatives with Sports Ministry clearance.
- Second preference: State representatives in Senior/Junior National Championships with medals (3rd place & above).
- Third preference: University representatives in Inter-University competitions with medals (3rd place & above).
- Fourth preference: State/UT representatives in Khelo India Youth/Winter/Para Games with medals (3rd place & above).
- Fifth preference: State School representatives in National School Games with medals (3rd place & above).
- Sixth preference: Participants without medals in the above categories.
How to Apply for Income Tax Department Sports Quota Recruitment 2026
- Step 1: Visit the official Income Tax Department website www.incometaxindia.gov.in or Kolkata News Updates.
- Step 2: Download the official notification and application form (ANNEXURE-A).
- Step 3: Fill the application form in the prescribed format (Capital Letters only, with black or blue ink).
- Step 4: Affix a recent colored front-facing passport size photograph (without spectacles or headgear) duly attested by a Gazetted Officer.
- Step 5: Attach self-attested photocopies of all required documents (attested by a Gazetted Officer).
- Step 6: Fill the Google Form using the link/QR code provided in the notification (additional requirement).
- Step 7: Send the application by Normal Post/Speed Post/Registered Post/Courier to the following address:

Important Instructions
- Applications must be submitted in the prescribed format (ANNEXURE-A).
- Incomplete applications, unsigned applications, without photograph, without attested photocopies, and without required annexures will be rejected.
- Only one application per candidate will be entertained. Multiple applications will lead to cancellation.
- Sports achievements between 01.01.2022 to 30.06.2026 only will be considered.
- Candidates must be clear in all Doping Tests (WADA/NADA). No disqualification or ban from any tournament.
- Candidates who are already employed should submit NOC from their employer.
- Canvassing in any form will render candidature liable to be rejected.
- No TA will be paid for Document Verification, Proficiency Test, or joining.
- Selected candidates will be liable to be posted anywhere under Pr.CCIT, West Bengal & Sikkim.
- Any discrepancy between Google Form and physical application, the physical application shall prevail.
