About National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG)
The National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) is the implementation arm of the National Ganga Council, which was established under the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986. NMCG is registered as a society under the Societies Registration Act, 1860. It operates under the Department of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation, Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India. The mission is responsible for implementing the Ganga Action Plan and ensuring the effective abatement of pollution and rejuvenation of the River Ganga. Educational Qualification
Consultant (Information Technology) Grade-1:
- Essential: Bachelor's degree in IT/Computer Science.
- Essential: Post-graduate degree in Environmental Science / Environmental Engineering / Water Resource Engineering or other related subjects.
- Desirable: Ph.D. degree would be preferable.
- Essential: Post-graduate degree in Water Resource Management / Engineering / Hydrology / Environmental Engineering or other related subjects.
- Desirable: Ph.D. degree would be preferable.
Experience Required
Consultant (Information Technology) Grade-1:
- 3-8 years of experience in a relevant field with demonstrated expertise in GIS systems.
- At least 1 year of experience in any National Mapping, monitoring & management project, including creation & handling experience of any national-level decision support system.
- Strong communication skills and understanding of governance mechanisms for water resources management.
- 3-8 years of experience in the water pollution sector in India.
- At least 2 years of relevant work experience in water resource management, river basin management, holistic river rejuvenation, environmental/water quality monitoring, wastewater management, implementation of nature-based solutions (NbS), institutional strengthening/organizational development, etc.
- Specific experience working with multidisciplinary teams and understanding of Government of India's mission/schemes relevant to River Rejuvenation, Water and Sanitation.
- 3-8 years of experience in the water sector in India.
- At least 2 years of relevant work experience in water quality monitoring, water resource management (quality and quantity), river basin management, wastewater management, etc.
- Strong working experience in the use and interpretation of geo-spatial maps, monitoring, synthesis and analysis of water resource data including precipitation, streamflow, groundwater levels, water availability, and water quality.
Age Limit
- Upper age limit: 45 years as on 01 July 2026.
Salary & Remuneration
- Consolidated monthly remuneration: Rs. 1,10,000/- per month.
- The engagement is initially for a period of one year, extendable based on performance and NMCG requirements.
- No TA/DA will be provided for attending the interview or joining.
Job Description & Responsibilities
Consultant (Information Technology):
- Work closely with the Ganga Knowledge Centre at NMCG.
- Responsible for GIS Cell intranet and external websites.
- Manage hosting and operational oversight.
- Develop and manage web applications of PRAYAG.
- GIS data preparation, collation/integration, spatial analysis, mapping.
- Develop interactive spatial knowledge products (static, animated, and interactive maps, 3D visualization).
- Develop elaborate knowledge products including guidelines, manuals, concept notes, research papers.
- Manage and organize training conferences.
- Technically support the Executive Director (Admin), NMCG.
- Steer preparation and coordination for District Ganga Plans (DGPs).
- Coordinate with partner States/ministries/departments for development, implementation, monitoring & reviewing of DGPs.
- Support conceptualization of organizational development needs.
- Coordinate with State Missions for Clean Ganga (SMCGs) and District Ganga Committees.
- Co-create challenge-based approaches for implementation of good practices.
- Work closely with the RBM Unit at NMCG.
- Apply technical approaches for integrated river basin planning and management.
- Coordinate with NMCG, SMCGs, and District Ganga Committees.
- Develop and steer the monitoring mechanism for Thematic Expert Groups (TEGs).
- Assess training requirements within NMCG, SMCGs, and other stakeholders.
- Develop induction training programmes on RBM Cycle approaches.
- Provide professional technical advice to RBM Unit at NMCG and SMCGs.

Selection Process

Important Instructions
- The candidate engaged shall have no vested right prior to and after the completion of the contract period for regularisation/absorption in NMCG.
- NMCG can cancel the engagement of a Consultant at any time. In the normal course, one month's notice will be provided.
- The Consultant can also seek termination of the contract upon giving one month's notice to NMCG.
- NMCG reserves the right to fill or not to fill any position without assigning any reason.
