Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the official notification for Direct Recruitment by Selection for the posts of Principal and Vice Principal in the Education Department, Government of NCT of Delhi. A total of 828 vacancies have been announced including 124 Principal posts and 704 Vice Principal posts.
Eligible and interested candidates can apply online through the official UPSC Online Recruitment Application (ORA) portal. The online application process has started from 25 July 2026 and the last date to submit applications is 14 August 2026 up to 6:00 PM. The Commission will conduct a Pen & Paper based Combined Recruitment Test (CRT) on 01 November 2026 to shortlist candidates for interview. Eligibility Criteria - Principal
Age Limit (as on 14 August 2026):
- UR/EWS: 50 years
- OBC: 53 years
- SC/ST: 55 years
- PwBD: 10 years relaxation (subject to maximum age limit of 56 years)
- Master's Degree from a recognized University/Institute
- Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) from a recognized University/Institute
- 10 years teaching experience (as Vice Principal/PGT/TGT) in a recognized High School/Higher Secondary School/Senior Secondary School/Intermediate College
- Doctorate Degree from a recognized University/Institute
- Experience of Administrative charge of a recognized High School/Higher Secondary School/Intermediate College
- Level-12 in the Pay Matrix (7th CPC)

Application Fee

- Exempted Categories: Female candidates, SC/ST, and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) are exempted from payment of fee.
- No "fee exemption" is available to OBC/EWS/Unreserved male candidates.
- Applications without the prescribed fee will be summarily rejected.
- Fee once paid shall not be refunded under any circumstance.
How to Apply
- Visit the official UPSC Online Recruitment Application portal at https://upsconline.nic.in/ora/
- Register on the portal to generate Universal Registration Number (URN)
- Fill the Universal Registration (URN) profile with personal details
- Fill the Common Application Form (CAF)
- Complete the post/vacancy specific module
- Upload required documents (Photograph, Signature, Certificates)
- Capture Live Photograph while filling the CAF
- Pay the application fee of ₹25/- (if applicable)
- Submit the application online before the closing date
- Take a printout of the finally submitted application for future reference
- Applications submitted through any other mode shall not be accepted

Important Instructions for Candidates
- Reservation under OBC Category will be provided only to candidates who submit OBC certificates issued by Govt. of NCT of Delhi. Candidates with OBC certificate from other States/UTs will be treated as General/Unreserved candidates.
- Candidates must ensure they fulfill all eligibility conditions before applying.
- The closing date for submission of online application is 14 August 2026 (6:00 PM).
- The crucial date for determining eligibility is the closing date of application.
- Candidates are advised to use their Aadhaar Card as ID document for easy verification.
- No correction/alteration in application is allowed after submission.
- Candidates will not be allowed to withdraw their applications after submission.
- All communication will be made through registered email ID only.
- The Commission provides one-time edit facility for URN Profile.
- Mobile phones, pagers, electronic gadgets are strictly banned in examination/interview hall.
- Face authentication will be mandatory at examination venue/interview hall.
- Canvassing in any form will disqualify the candidate.
- Candidates must be in sound bodily health and will undergo medical examination if selected.
- e-Admit Card will be made available on the Commission's website before the recruitment test.
- For marking answers in OMR sheet, candidates must use black ball pen only.
- There will be penalty (negative marking) for wrong answers in the objective type test.
Age Relaxations
- SC/ST Candidates: 5 years relaxation in upper age limit
- OBC Candidates: 3 years relaxation in upper age limit
- PwBD Candidates: 10 years relaxation in upper age limit (subject to max 56 years)
- Ex-Servicemen: 5 years relaxation (subject to conditions)
