Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) has released the Interview Schedule for the post of Assistant Professor (Stage-I) in Sociology under Advertisement No. 27 of 2023-24. The interview will be conducted for 104 shortlisted candidates bearing the following PPSAN numbers.
Candidates who have been shortlisted for the Assistant Professor (Sociology) interview can check their interview schedule from the official website of OPSC. The interview will be held at the Office of the Commission, 19, Dr. P. K. Parija Road, Cuttack - 753001 from 17 August 2026 to 19 August 2026. Candidates are advised to report two hours before the commencement of the interview on the scheduled date and time.

Qualifying Marks for Interview
- UR & SEBC: 50 marks
- SC & ST: 42 marks
- PwD: 38 marks
- For Sports Persons & Ex-servicemen, the qualifying marks will be the same as the caste category (UR/SEBC/SC/ST) to which the candidates belong.
- A candidate will be considered suitable for selection only when he/she secures the qualifying marks as detailed above.
- Even if the posts remain vacant, an unsuitable candidate who fails to secure the qualifying marks cannot stake his/her claim for selection.
Preparation of Merit List
- A combined merit list in order of merit for each discipline will be prepared for recommendation of appointment based on marks secured in the interview by the suitable candidates who have secured qualifying marks.
- In the event of suitable candidates not available, the post of that category will remain unfilled.
- In case two candidates secure the same marks in the interview, the one who secures higher marks in the Domain Knowledge will be placed higher in the merit list.
- In case of a further tie, the candidate with higher marks in Pedagogical Skill will be assigned the higher position in the merit list.
- In case of a further tie, the candidate with higher final Score as per Table 3B of Annexure-A of the Advertisement will be placed higher in the merit list.
- If the tie persists, the candidate older in age as per the date of birth will be placed higher than the younger ones.
Important Instructions for Candidates
- The candidature of these candidates for recruitment is purely provisional. The candidature is liable for rejection in the event of inadequacy/deficiency found at any stage during or after the selection process.
- Mere participation in the interview does not reserve any right for selection.
- Candidates are required to report to the Office of the Commission two hours before the commencement of the interview on the scheduled date & time.
- Candidates are required to submit the documents as per Office Notice No. 1306/PSC, dt. 02.03.2026 available on the OPSC website.
- Pedagogy Skill is part of the interview. Candidates are to come prepared to present a topic of their choice within 8 to 10 minutes before the Interview Board.
- White Board shall be provided by the Commission for the purpose.
- Candidates who do not turn up before the closure of the draw of lots will be allotted Boards through the draw of lots by any one of the candidates present.

- A list of articles/publications (Annexure-1) - 4 sets
- A list of books authored and co-authored (Annexure-1) - 4 sets
- Photocopies in 4 sets of best 4 (four) original publications/articles in which the candidate is only first or second author
- 4 sets of best 2 (two) books originally authored/co-authored by the candidate
- A brief synopsis of the doctoral research paper (PhD Thesis) in two pages in 4 sets (Annexure-III)
- List of participation in National/International Seminar/Workshop (Annexure-IV)
- List of International/National/State-level Award received (Annexure-V)
- Additional documents required for scrutiny (Original copies):
- All original PhD Thesis, Research Publications and Books
- Original Documents with respect to participation in National/International Seminar/Workshops
- Original Documents with respect to International/National/State-level Award
- Any name, Roll Number etc. may be masked/erased in the above documents as the interview is an identity-less process.
Interview Process Details
- To test the Pedagogical Skills, candidates may be asked to take a demo class for maximum 7 to 8 minutes on the White Board on a topic chosen by them or assigned by the Board during the course of interview.
- For transparency measures, allotment of the Interview Board will be on the basis of a draw of lots by each candidate in the presence of all candidates.
- The draw of lots for the 1st sitting will be held in the Reception Hall from 9:00 AM to 9:30 AM and 2nd sitting from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM.
- The interview process is identity-less and any personal particulars like Name, Roll Number or any information which might divulge the identity of candidates are not disclosed to the Interview Board.
- The candidate will appear for the Interview with a Code Number randomly generated through the system.
