The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India has released a circular inviting applications for the recruitment of 01 Deputy Director General (DDG) post on a Deputation Basis. Eligible officers from All India Services and other Group 'A' Central Services can apply for this vacancy. The selected candidate will receive Pay Matrix Level-14 (₹1,44,200 – ₹2,18,200) as per 7th CPC and may be posted at NCB Headquarters or any of the Zonal Units across India. Applications must reach the Ministry within 08 weeks from the date of issue of the circular or publication of the advertisement in Employment News, whichever is later.

About Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB)

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) functions under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. It is the country's apex agency responsible for combating drug trafficking and enforcing the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. Eligibility Criteria

Applicants should be officers from All India Services and other Group 'A' Central Services who satisfy either of the following conditions:
  • Holding analogous post on a regular basis in the parent cadre or department.
  • OR empanelled for appointment to the posts in Level-14 of the Pay Matrix (7th CPC) or equivalent in Government of India.
Appointments will be made strictly on deputation basis as per Government of India rules.

  • Five years experience in enforcement of regulatory laws or investigation of economic and criminal offences and collection of intelligence relating thereof.

Age Limit

The maximum age for appointment on deputation shall not exceed 58 years on the closing date of receipt of applications. Officers on the verge of promotion/superannuation need not apply.

Deputation Period

The period of deputation including deputation in another ex-cadre post held immediately preceding this appointment in the same or some other organization/department of the Central Government shall ordinarily not exceed 05 (five) years.

Documents Required

Eligible officers should forward their application through the proper channel along with the following documents:
  • Duly filled Bio-data/C.V. in the prescribed proforma.
  • Attested copies of APARs for the last 5 (five) years (preferably up to 2025-2026) duly attested by an officer not below the rank of Under Secretary to the Government of India or equivalent.
  • Cadre Clearance from the State Government as well as from Cadre Controlling Authority incorporating that in the event of his/her selection, he/she will be relieved to join the post of Deputy Director General in NCB on deputation basis.
  • Vigilance Clearance Certificate as per proforma.
  • Integrity Certificate.
  • Certificate to the effect that no Major/Minor Penalty has been imposed upon the candidate during the last 10 (ten) years.
