Space Applications Centre (SAC), Ahmedabad is one of the lead Centres of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), Department of Space (DOS). SAC focuses on the design of spaceborne instruments for terrestrial and planetary missions of ISRO and the development and operationalisation of space technology for societal benefits. The applications cover communication, broadcasting, navigation, disaster monitoring, meteorology, oceanography, environment monitoring, and management of natural resources. Educational Qualification & Experience
1. Junior Research Fellow (JRF) - Post Code 01 to 07:
- Essential: M.E./M.Tech. or M.Sc. in the relevant disciplines as specified for each post code.
- Minimum Marks: M.E./M.Tech. degree should have passed with an aggregate minimum of 60% marks (average of all semesters) or CGPA/CPI grading of 6.5 on a 10 Point scale. M.Sc./B.E./B.Tech. degree should have passed with an aggregate minimum of 65% marks (average of all semesters) or CGPA/CPI grading of 6.84 on a 10 Point scale.
- Additional Qualification: Applicants for JRF positions must have qualified one of the following:
- National Eligibility Test - CSIR-UGC NET including Lectureship (Assistant Professorship).
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE).
- National level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and institutions such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MoE, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER, NISER etc.
- Validity: The above qualified examination result/score card should be valid on the closing date of online application i.e. 30.09.2026.
- Essential: Ph.D. in the relevant disciplines as specified for each post code OR 3 years' research, teaching, design and development experience after M.E./M.Tech. in the relevant disciplines with at least one research paper in Science Citation Indexed (SCI) journal.
- Essential: Ph.D. or M.E./M.Tech. in the relevant disciplines as specified for each post code.
- Essential: M.E./M.Tech. in RF & Microwave/Applied Physics or related disciplines.
- Scope of Work: Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) Modeling & Inversion: Develop multi-frequency (P/L/S/C & X-band) and polarimetric SAR scattering models/inversion techniques for high-resolution soil moisture estimation. SAR data processing and analysis; EM Simulation & Analysis: Perform electromagnetic simulations and numerical modeling to evaluate SAR signature sensitivity against field-measured soil and crop data. Sensor definition studies using MATLAB/Python to determine optimal SAR configurations for soil moisture retrievals and analysis.

Selection Process
- The prescribed essential qualifications are the minimum requirement and the same does not automatically make candidates eligible for selection process.
- In the event of a large number of applications, the selection committee may shortlist candidates for interview based on academic records and/or experience and/or written test.

- The final selection will be based on the performance of the candidates in the interview.

- Candidates waiting for their relevant final year/semester result as on the last date of application i.e. 30.09.2026 are not eligible to apply.
- Candidates possessing Degrees awarded by foreign universities should produce the equivalency certificate issued by Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi, at the time of Interview.
- In respect of OBC candidates, relaxation in upper age limit will be available only to candidates who do not fall in creamy layer as on the date of online application.
- PwBD candidates have to submit a certificate of disability in the prescribed format clearly indicating the percentage of disability (minimum 40%).
- Junior Research Fellows will be engaged initially for ONE YEAR and is extendable for further periods based on assessment of their work and requirement of project. The maximum period of engagement of Junior Research Fellow shall not exceed FIVE years.
- Research Associates will be engaged initially for ONE YEAR and is extendable for further period. The maximum period of engagement of Research Associate shall not exceed THREE years.
- Project Scientist-I will be engaged initially for ONE YEAR or till the project duration and is extendable for further periods.
- The selected candidates shall be posted at SAC, Ahmedabad. However, they may be required to work and stay at any location in India during their tenure for Project work/Research.
- Outstation Candidates called for Interview will be paid to and fro Second/Sleeper Class Railway Fare or non-AC Bus fare or actual fare whichever is less.
- Candidates who have pursued professional course through Open and Distance Learning (ODL) are not eligible for consideration.
- Government strives to have a workforce which reflects gender balance and women candidates are encouraged to apply.
- Selected candidates may be intimated through email/SAC website and have to join the post on being found fit by a Medical Authority.
- SAC/ISRO reserves the right to cancel/postpone the interview without assigning any reason thereof.
