Centre for Artificial Intelligence & Robotics (CAIR), Bengaluru, a premier laboratory under the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), has released an official notification for the award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF). The DRDO CAIR JRF Recruitment 2026 notification was published on 14 August 2026 under Advertisement No. CAIR/HRT/JRF/2026/02. Applications are invited from eligible candidates for the prestigious Junior Research Fellowship position. Eligible candidates can apply by sending the duly filled application form via email prior to the walk-in interview. The last date for receipt of applications by email is 13 September 2026. Eligibility Criteria

Age Limit (as on the date of Walk-in-Interview):
  • Upper Age Limit: As per rules
  • Relaxation: SC/ST/PwBD - 5 years, OBC - 3 years
Stipend:
  • ₹ 37,000/- per month + HRA as per rules of the funding agencies
Tenure:
  • Initially for a period of 2 (two) years
  • May be extended further and upgraded to SRF as per rules

Selection Process
  • Step 1: Screening of applications and verification of original certificates/ testimonials.
  • Step 2: Written Test will be conducted from 10:00 AM onwards on 19 September 2026.
  • Step 3: Only qualified candidates will be interviewed on the same day (19 September 2026).
  • Final Merit List: Prepared based on performance in the Interview.
  • Post Offer: In case of refusal of the offer or resignation within one year, the post will be offered to the next candidate in the merit list.

How to Apply for DRDO CAIR JRF Recruitment 2026
  • Step 1: Visit the official DRDO website: www.drdo.gov.in and download the application form.
  • Step 2: Fill the application form completely in BLOCK letters as per the prescribed format.
  • Step 3: Send the duly filled application form by email to: j.r.f.recruitment.blore@gmail.com
  • Step 4: Use the subject field: "Application for JRF as per the Advertisement No: CAIR/HRT/JRF/2026/02" (mandatory).
  • Step 5: Last date for receipt of application form by email is 13 September 2026.
  • Step 6: Bring a copy of the duly filled application form along with complete bio-data on the date of interview.
  • Step 7: Report for Walk-in-Interview on 19 September 2026 at 08:30 AM to 09:30 AM at:
    • CAIR Main Gate Reception, C.V. Raman Nagar, Bengaluru - 560093
  • Step 8: Carry all original certificates/testimonials, community certificate (if applicable), and one set of self-attested photocopies along with two recent passport size colour photographs.
  • Step 9: Candidates employed in Government Departments/PSUs/Autonomous Bodies must produce NOC at the time of interview.
Note: Eligible candidates may directly report, without pre-registration, to the Walk-in-Interview within the stipulated reporting time along with all relevant documents. No separate acknowledgement will be sent for pre-registration.

  • Project report in support of candidature (if applicable)
  • NOC from present employer (for candidates employed in Govt./PSUs/Autonomous Bodies)
  • GATE/CSIR-NET/UGC-NET score card (if applicable)

Important Instructions
  • Reporting time is 08:30 AM to 09:30 AM on 19 September 2026 at CAIR Main Gate Reception. Late comers will not be allowed.
  • Electronic items like smart/mobile phones, pen drive, laptop, CD-ROM, smart watch, etc. strictly will not be allowed inside CAIR Campus. (Can be deposited at CAIR Reception.)
  • No vehicle parking facility will be provided. Candidates are advised to utilize public transport.
  • Age relaxation: SC/ST/PwBD - 5 years, OBC - 3 years.
  • Age, Educational qualification, and GATE/CSIR-NET/UGC-NET validity will be considered as on the date of Walk-in-Interview.
  • No TA/DA shall be paid for attending the interview or at the time of joining.
  • Selected candidates may be allowed to register for PhD (External mode) with any recognized University/Institution during the tenure of fellowship.
  • Offer of award of Fellowship does not confer on the candidates any right for absorption in DRDO under any circumstances.
  • The Organization reserves the right to cancel the whole selection process/selection at any time.
  • Incomplete applications will be rejected during the screening for eligibility.
  • Application form to be typed in BLOCK letters only.
