About Department of Official Language (DOL)

The Department of Official Language (DOL) is a subordinate office under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. It is responsible for the implementation of the Official Language Act and promoting the use of Hindi as the official language of the Union. The Central Translation Bureau under DOL provides translation services to various Ministries and Departments. Eligibility Criteria

1. Educational Qualification (Essential):

• Master's degree of a recognized University in Hindi with English as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of examination at the Degree level; OR
• Master's degree of a recognized University in English with Hindi as a compulsory subject or elective subject or as the medium of examination at the Degree level.

2. Eligibility for Deputation:

• Officers from the Central/State Government/Union Territories:
  • (a)(i) Holding analogous posts on regular basis in the parent cadre/department; OR
  • (a)(ii) With five years' service in the grade after appointment thereto on a regular basis in posts in the Pay Level-11 of the Pay Matrix (₹ 67,700 - ₹ 2,08,700/-) or equivalent in the parent cadre/department.

3. Age Limit:

• Maximum 56 years as on the closing date of receipt of applications.

Period of Deputation

• The period of deputation including period of deputation in another ex-cadre post held immediately preceding this appointment in the same or some other organization/department of the Central Government shall ordinarily not exceed four years.

Duties of Joint Director

• He/She will be in charge of the Evaluation and Training Division of the Bureau.
• Evaluate the Hindi translation work done by the Translators working in various Ministries and Departments.
• Provide guidelines for translation technique and to improve the quality of Hindi translation.
• Responsible for running Training courses in translation technique for Hindi Translators.
• Prepare training material and associate literature.
• Provide guidance to the officers of the Translation Division.

• Step 3: Fill the application in duplicate with all required details.
• Step 4: Attach the following documents:
  • Clear Photostat copies of ACR/APAR for the last 5 years (2019-20 to 2023-24) duly attested by a Group 'A' Gazetted Officer.
  • Integrity Certificate.
  • Certificate confirming no disciplinary/Vigilance case is pending or contemplated.
  • Statement showing major or minor penalties, if any, imposed during the last 10 years.
  • Cadre clearance in respect of the applicant.
• Step 5: Forward the application through proper channel to the undersigned.
• Step 6: Ensure the application reaches within 60 days from the date of issue of this OM or from the date of publication in Employment News/Rozgar Samachar, whichever is later.
