Central Bank of India Inquiry Authority Recruitment 2026 | Apply for Retired PSB Officers (Scale IV & Above) on Contract Basis by 31 July 2026 @ centralbank.bank.in

Central Bank of India has released the official notification for the engagement of retired Public Sector Bank (PSB) Officers in the rank of Scale IV & above for the post of Inquiry Authority on contractual basis. The bank invites applications from eligible retired officers for empanelment as External Inquiring Authorities to handle departmental inquiries.

Interested and eligible retired officers can apply in the prescribed format by sending their applications to the mentioned address. The last date to submit the applications is 31 July 2026. Candidates are advised to check the eligibility criteria, remuneration structure, roles and responsibilities carefully before applying.

Eligibility Criteria
  • Retired from Public Sector Bank's Service on attaining superannuation at the age of 60 years in the cadre of Scale IV & above.
  • Not more than 63 years of age on the date of publication of notification for empanelment.
  • Should have retired with good track record and no major punishment/penalty during five years of service preceding retirement.
  • No minor punishment/penalty during three years of service preceding retirement.
  • Must not have been named in the ODI List during five years of service preceding retirement.
  • No crime record.
  • Sound health, both physically and mentally.
  • Worked in different areas of Banking or Human Resources or Industrial Relations or have experience of handling departmental inquiries as Inquiring Authority / Presenting Officer / Disciplinary Authority.
  • Flair for writing reports.
  • Willing to travel as and when required.
  • Officers who voluntarily retired/resigned/suspended/dismissed/terminated or left before superannuation are not eligible.

Term of Engagement
  • Initial period not exceeding one year.
  • Extendable till the age of 65 years of empaneled officer.
  • Subject to annual review of task and performance by the competent authority.

Remuneration Structure

For Inquiring Authority retired in SMGS-IV/V:
  • Within 60 days: ₹ 45,000/-
  • Within 90 days: ₹ 40,000/-
  • Within 120 days: ₹ 37,500/-
  • Within 150 days: ₹ 35,000/-
  • Within 180 days: ₹ 30,000/-
  • Clerical & Stenographic Work: 10% of eligible lump-sum remuneration
For Inquiring Authority retired in TEGS-VI & above:
  • Within 60 days: ₹ 50,000/-
  • Within 90 days: ₹ 45,000/-
  • Within 120 days: ₹ 42,500/-
  • Within 150 days: ₹ 40,000/-
  • Within 180 days: ₹ 35,000/-
  • Clerical & Stenographic Work: 10% of eligible lump-sum remuneration
For Charge Sheeted Officer Scale IV & V:
  • Within 60 days: ₹ 55,000/- (SMGS-IV/V), ₹ 60,000/- (TEGS-VI & above)
  • Within 90 days: ₹ 50,000/- (SMGS-IV/V), ₹ 55,000/- (TEGS-VI & above)
  • Within 120 days: ₹ 47,500/- (SMGS-IV/V), ₹ 52,500/- (TEGS-VI & above)
  • Within 150 days: ₹ 45,000/- (SMGS-IV/V), ₹ 50,000/- (TEGS-VI & above)
  • Within 180 days: ₹ 40,000/- (SMGS-IV/V), ₹ 45,000/- (TEGS-VI & above)
For Charge Sheeted Officer Scale VI, VII & VIII:
  • Within 60 days: ₹ 70,000/-
  • Within 90 days: ₹ 65,000/-
  • Within 120 days: ₹ 62,500/-
  • Within 150 days: ₹ 60,000/-
  • Within 180 days: ₹ 55,000/-

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Appointed as Inquiring Authority by the Disciplinary Authority (DA)/Competent Authority (CA) of the Charge Sheeted Officer.
  • Entrusted with inquiries on a case-to-case basis.
  • Shall not engage in any other professional work likely to interfere with duties as Inquiring Authority.
  • Maintain strict secrecy regarding documents/information received.
  • Submit an undertaking that he/she is not a witness/complainant or close relative of the delinquent Bank Officer.
  • Conduct inquiry proceedings in the office premises of the Bank or through Video Conference.
  • Undertake travel for conducting inquiry wherever required with prior permission.
  • Submit Inquiry Report within 180 days from the date of appointment.
  • Refusal to accept inquiry without valid reasons shall be taken adversely.
  • Empanelment subject to annual review of performance.

  • Shortlisting of applications based on eligibility criteria.
  • Eligible shortlisted candidates will be called for personal interaction.
  • Decision of the Bank shall be final in this regard.

Important Instructions
