IIT (ISM) Dhanbad has released the official notification for the recruitment of Associate Professor and Professor positions for the academic year 2026. The Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines), Dhanbad invites applications from Indian Nationals, Persons of Indian Origins (PIOs), Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs), and Foreign Nationals for a total of 60 faculty posts across 17 departments.

Educational Qualifications
- Ph.D. with first class or equivalent (in terms of grades, etc.) at the preceding degree in the appropriate branch.
- Very good academic record throughout.
- Good CPI/CGPA/Percentage in Ph.D. course work wherever applicable.
- Candidates should have an established record of independent, high-quality research and commitment to teaching and research.
Experience Requirements
For Associate Professor:
- Minimum 6 years of teaching/research/industrial experience.
- Minimum 3 years should be at the level of Assistant Professor (Pay Level 12) in IITs/IISc Bangalore/IIMs/IISERs or institutes of national importance or Indian/Foreign Institutes of equivalent standards.
- Or Senior Scientist in reputed National/International research organizations/Industries.
- Demonstrated adequate experience of independent research in terms of guidance of Ph.D. students, publications in reputed journals and conferences, patents, laboratory/course development, and other recognized relevant professional activities.
- Minimum 10 years of teaching/research/industrial experience.
- Minimum 4 years should be at the level of Associate Professor in IITs/IISc Bangalore/IIMs/IISERs or institutes of national importance or Indian/Foreign Institutes of equivalent standards.
- Or Senior Scientist in reputed National/International Research Organizations/Industries.
- Demonstrated leadership in research in a specific area of specialization in terms of guidance of Ph.D. students, strong record of publications in reputed journals and conferences, patents, laboratory/course development, and other recognized relevant professional activities.
Age Limit & Relaxation
- Age limit will be as per IIT (ISM) Dhanbad norms.
- Age relaxation will be applicable as per Government of India rules.
- SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwBD/EWS candidates will get age relaxation as per GOI norms.
Pay Scale & Benefits
Associate Professor:
- 7th CPC Pay Level 13A2
- Minimum Basic Pay: ₹ 1,39,600/- per month
- For direct recruits, minimum starting basic pay to be fixed at Cell No.1
- 7th CPC Pay Level 14A
- Minimum Basic Pay: ₹ 1,59,100/- per month
- For direct recruits, minimum starting basic pay to be fixed at Cell No.1
- Professional Development Allowance (PDA) of ₹ 3.0 Lakhs in a three year block
- Telephone bill reimbursement upto ₹ 2000/- per month
- Medical facilities for self and dependent family members
- Children Education Allowance (presently ₹ 33750/- per annum per child) for maximum two children
- Central DA (revised twice a year) and Transportation allowance (currently ₹ 3600 + DA)
- Leave Travel Concession for self and dependent family members
- Furnished office room and computing facility of approx. ₹ 1.25 lakhs
- Faculty Mobility Program for research collaboration
- Sabbatical Leave/Special Leave/Special Casual Leave
- Reimbursement of relocation charges up to ₹ 1.25 lakhs

Important Instructions
- Candidates must fill the online application form at the recruitment portal of IIT (ISM), Dhanbad only.
- Incomplete applications shall be summarily rejected and no communication shall be entertained.

- Candidates called for interview will be reimbursed train fare in AC 2 Tier/Air Fare by Economy Class by the shortest route within India.
- Political and security clearance from Ministries of External Affairs and Home Affairs may be necessary for individuals with foreign passports.
- The Institute reserves the right to reject any or all applications, amend any clauses, fill or not fill the posts advertised, or cancel the recruitment without assigning any reason.
