Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has invited applications for Direct Recruitment of 100 Junior Telecom Officers (JTO) in the Telecom stream from the open market. Both internal and external candidates fulfilling the prescribed eligibility conditions are eligible to apply. Online registration opens from 04 June 2026 and closes on 03 July 2026. The Computer Based Test (CBT) is tentatively scheduled for August 2026.

JTO (Telecom) is a Circle Cadre post and the unit of recruitment is the respective Recruiting Circle. Selected candidates will be allotted a Circle depending on their merit and preference. Eligibility Criteria
Nationality:
- Only Indian Nationals are eligible to apply
- Bachelor of Engineering Degree or equivalent from a Central Govt./State Govt. recognised Institution/University in any of the following disciplines: Telecommunications, Electronics, Radio, Computer, Electrical, Information Technology (IT), Instrumentation
- OR M.Sc. (Electronics) / M.Sc. (Computer Science)
- Candidates with M.Tech in the prescribed disciplines are also eligible
- Course must be completed as on the closing date of receipt of application
- General/UR/EWS/OBC (CL): 20 to 30 years
- OBC (NCL): 33 years (30+3)
- SC/ST: 35 years (30+5)
- PwBD (UR/EWS/OBC CL): 40 years | PwBD (OBC NCL): 43 years | PwBD (SC/ST): 45 years
- BSNL Employees (UR/EWS/OBC CL): 35 years | OBC (NCL): 38 years | SC/ST: 40 years
- BSNL Employees (PwBD OBC NCL): 48 years | BSNL Employees (PwBD SC/ST): 50 years
- The applicant must be capable of distinguishing principal colours and should have binocular vision
Salary & Benefits
- IDA Pay Scale [E-1]: Rs.16,400 – Rs.40,500/- per month
- All applicable allowances and benefits as per BSNL rules
- Training stipend during the pre-appointment training period
- Probation period: 2 years

Exam Pattern & Syllabus
Exam Type: Computer Based Multiple Choice Objective Type Test (MCQ with negative marking)
Duration: 3 hours | Total Marks: 480 | Total Questions: 120
- Section I – Engineering Stream Section I: 200 Marks (50 Questions)
- Section II – Engineering Stream Section II: 200 Marks (50 Questions)
- Section III – General Ability Test: 80 Marks (20 Questions)
- Correct answer: +4 Marks | Wrong answer: -1 Mark
- Minimum qualifying marks in each section: 40% (UR/OBC/EWS) | 35% (SC/ST/OBC NCL/PwBD/EWS)
- Overall minimum qualifying marks: 50% combined (UR/OBC/EWS) | 45% combined (SC/ST/OBC NCL/PwBD/EWS)

How to Apply

- Step 2: Register online with mobile number and email ID — OTP will be sent for verification
- Step 3: Fill the application form with all correct details and select up to 21 Circle preferences in order
- Step 4: Upload all required scanned documents
- Step 5: Pay the examination fee through online mode only
- Step 6: Take a printout of the computer-generated registration form for records

Bond & Training Details
- All selected candidates must execute a Bond of Rs.6,00,000/- (Six Lakhs) to serve BSNL for at least 5 years from the date of appointment
- Training details: JTO Phase-I training (10 weeks) + Field Training (4 weeks) + JTO Phase-II Specialisation training (6 weeks)
- Training stipend as decided by BSNL will be provided during training period
- If a candidate fails pre-appointment training in 1st attempt, one more chance is given; failing which the candidate cannot be appointed as JTO
Important Instructions
- Only Indian Nationals are eligible
- Candidates must be capable of distinguishing principal colours and have binocular vision
- Selected candidates will be allotted a Circle based on merit and preference — Circle once allotted cannot be changed
- Candidates liable for transfer anywhere in India in interest of service
- Appointment subject to passing BSNL's Medical Examination
- Candidates already employed must resign only after being declared medically fit — BSNL bears no responsibility if resignation is made before medical fitness declaration
- Challenge/grievance window will open for 7 days after exam — fee Rs.400/- per question/answer key (non-refundable)
- BSNL does not seek any payments other than the registration fee and post-exam grievance fee
- Withdrawal of candidature not entertained under any circumstances
- Any dispute subject to jurisdiction of Courts/Tribunals at New Delhi
- BSNL reserves the right to cancel/restrict/enlarge/modify the recruitment at any stage
