All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Madurai has invited applications for 1 post of Project Technical Support II under an ICMR funded research project titled "Strategies for Engaging the Population in the Prevention and Control of Hypertension and Diabetes and Enhancing Healthcare Seeking in India: The STEPS-INDIA". Monthly remuneration is Rs.24,000/- (including 18% HRA). This is a contractual post for 22 months. The last date to apply online is 19 June 2026 (5:00 PM).

About AIIMS Madurai & This Project
All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Madurai is a statutory body established under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY). JIPMER, Puducherry is the mentor institute for AIIMS Madurai.
The STEPS-INDIA project is an ICMR funded research initiative under the Principal Investigator Dr. S. Lena Charlette, Assistant Professor, Department of Community and Family Medicine, AIIMS Madurai. The project focuses on community-level strategies for prevention and control of hypertension and diabetes and improving healthcare seeking behaviour in India.
This is a field-based research position involving extensive community engagement, data collection and health surveys in Madurai district and other study sites. Candidates who can speak, read and write Tamil fluently will be given preference.

Eligibility Criteria
Minimum Qualification:
- 12th in Science + Diploma (MLT/DMLT) + 5 years experience in relevant field
- OR Three year Graduate degree in Science — B.Sc. (Public Health, Medical Social Work, Nursing, MLT, Sociology, Psychology, Pharmacology, Nutrition & Dietetics, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Allied Health Sciences, Chemistry, Physics, Statistics) + 2 years experience in relevant field
- OR Postgraduation in any of the above fields
- Previous experience in similar field/community-based projects/health system related research
- Ability to speak, read and write in Tamil

Job Responsibilities
- Facilitate community engagement activities including meetings and health camps
- Conduct community surveys in the field
- Perform baseline, midline and endline assessments of trial participants
- Conduct fidelity assessments of the project
- Ensure quality of data collection
- Perform any other work assigned by the Principal Investigator/Co-PI/Supervisory Officers
Salary & Benefits
- Monthly Remuneration: Rs.20,000/- + HRA 18% = Rs.24,000/- per month (consolidated)
- No Provident Fund, Pension, LTC, Medical claim, Staff Quarters or other regular staff allowances
- Only consolidated salary will be extended
- No TA/DA for attending interview

Selection Process
- Eligible candidates will be shortlisted based on qualification and experience
- Shortlisted candidates will be called for a written exam and hands-on exercise
- Those clearing the assessment will be called for an interview
- Interview will be held at 5th Floor Academic Block, AIIMS Madurai (Temporary Campus), Ramanathapuram Government Medical College, Ramanathapuram
- Email communication for interview will be sent only to shortlisted candidates
- Requests for video conferencing interview will not be entertained
- Assessment topics: Objective questions on qualitative/quantitative research, health systems and non-communicable diseases
Important Instructions
- This is a purely temporary, time-bound contractual post under an ICMR funded project — it does not confer any right for regular employment at ICMR or AIIMS Madurai
- Persons already in regular time scale service under any Government Department are not eligible to apply
- Project Technical Support personnel cannot register for Ph.D. due to time constraints
- The post is co-terminus with the project — once the project duration ends, the tenure automatically concludes
- Contract can be terminated with one week's notice for non-performance
- Candidates wishing to resign must give one month's notice or submit one month's salary
