The Airports Economic Regulatory Authority of India (AERA) has invited applications from eligible officers for recruitment to the posts of Director (Legal) and Bench Officer (Legal) on a deputation basis. The appointments will initially be for a period of three years, extendable up to seven years as per Government rules. Eligible candidates can submit their applications through the proper channel on or before 30 June 2026.

The Airports Economic Regulatory Authority of India (AERA) is a statutory authority established under the Airports Economic Regulatory Authority of India Act, 2008. The authority is responsible for regulating tariffs and other aeronautical services at major airports across India. Eligibility Criteria
- Officers of Central Government, State Government, Union Territories, Public Sector Undertakings, Statutory Bodies, Autonomous Organizations and Semi-Government Organizations are eligible.
- Maximum age limit shall not exceed 56 years as on the closing date of application.
- Candidates must satisfy the deputation eligibility conditions prescribed for the respective posts.
Educational Qualification & Experience
Director (Legal)
- Graduate Degree in Law from a recognized University or equivalent.
- Holding analogous post on regular basis in the parent cadre.
- OR three years' regular service in Level-12 (₹78,800–₹2,09,200).
- OR eight years' regular service in Level-11 (₹67,700–₹2,08,700).
- Desirable experience in drafting regulations, statutes, legislation, arbitration matters, courts, appellate tribunals and quasi-judicial bodies.
- Graduate Degree in Law from a recognized University or Institution.
- Holding analogous post on regular basis in the parent cadre.
- OR three years' regular service in Level-10 (₹56,100–₹1,77,500).
- OR six years' regular service in Level-8/Level-9.
- Desirable experience in litigation, arbitration, drafting regulations, rules and statutes relating to government organizations or regulatory bodies.
Salary & Benefits
- Director (Legal): Level-13 Pay Matrix (₹1,23,100 – ₹2,15,900)
- Bench Officer (Legal): Level-11 Pay Matrix (₹67,700 – ₹2,08,700)
- Allowances and benefits as admissible under Government rules.
- Selected officers may also be considered for absorption in AERA subject to applicable rules and amendments.
Job Responsibilities
- Handling legal and regulatory matters of the Authority.
- Drafting regulations, policies, rules and legal documents.
- Representing or assisting the Authority in legal proceedings.
- Managing litigation, arbitration and tribunal matters.
- Providing legal advice on aviation regulatory issues.
- Supporting quasi-judicial and regulatory functions of AERA.

- Scrutiny of applications.
- Verification of eligibility and service records.
- Assessment of qualifications and experience.
- Interaction/Interview, if required by the Authority.
- Final selection on deputation basis as per Government norms.
