The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Kolkata — an Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Education, Government of India — has invited applications for 02 Student Counsellor / Clinical Psychologist posts (Male – 01 and Female – 01) on contract (co-terminus basis) under project mode. A consolidated salary of Rs.45,000/- per month will be paid. Postgraduates in Psychology/Social Work with relevant experience can apply. The hard copy of the application must reach IISER Kolkata by 15 June 2026, 17:30 Hrs.

The Institute is located at Mohanpur, District Nadia, West Bengal – 741246. This recruitment is for temporary positions on contract (co-terminus basis) under project mode to support student counselling and mental health care services at the Institute.

  • Post: Student Counsellor / Clinical Psychologist

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification:
  • Master's Degree in Psychology or Social Work, with specialization in Clinical Psychotherapy, AND
  • Graduation in Psychology with at least 60% marks or equivalent (or equivalent grade point average) from a recognized University/Institute
Experience (2 years of relevant experience as under):
  • (a) Clinical experience in Mental Health Care, and
  • (b) Experience in the post of a full-time/part-time Student Counsellor
Desirable:
  • The Student Counsellor experience should be in an educational institution; both experiences should cover group counselling and individual counselling
  • Excellent communication skills
Note: Qualifications must be from recognized Universities/Institutions. Candidates with grades/CGPA must indicate the equivalent percentage as per their Board/University formula, with supporting certification.

  • Providing counselling support to students of the Institute

  • Supporting the Institute's student wellbeing initiatives under the project

Salary & Benefits
  • Consolidated Salary: Rs.45,000/- per month (Rupees forty-five thousand only)
  • The position is purely temporary and co-terminus under project mode
  • Appointees will not be entitled to any service benefit/compensation/absorption/regularization of service in the Institute

Selection Process
  • Shortlisted candidates will be called for Test/Interview/Discussion
  • The Institute reserves the right to screen and shortlist applications based on academic and professional attainments
  • Mere possession of the prescribed qualifications does not entitle candidates to be called for test/interview
  • All correspondence (call letter, admit card etc.) will be emailed — candidates must provide active mobile numbers and email addresses
  • Shortlisting and interview information will be uploaded on the Institute website from time to time
  • No TA/DA shall be admissible for appearing at the interview and joining

  • Candidates working in Central/State Government Organizations/Departments, Autonomous bodies/PSU and Government Funded Research Agencies must forward the filled-in offline application through proper channel or produce NOC at the time of test/interview/discussion, if called

Important Instructions
  • The position is purely temporary; the selected candidate will have no claim for regular appointment at IISER Kolkata
  • The contractual appointment can be terminated at any time by the Institute Authority without assigning any reason
  • The candidate must be a citizen of India
  • Appointment is subject to medical fitness (certificate at the time of joining) and verification of character & antecedents — fake/false documents will lead to immediate termination
  • The cut-off date for ascertaining age and experience will be the last date of receipt of the hard copy of application
  • Mere issue of interview call letter will not imply acceptance of candidature
  • Incomplete applications shall be summarily rejected
  • Canvassing in any form will lead to cancellation of candidature
  • No telephonic enquiries or requests will be entertained; corrigendum/addendum, if any, will be published only on the Institute website
  • Records of non-selected candidates will not be preserved beyond six months from the date of formation of the select list
