The Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Mumbai — an Autonomous Institution of the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India and a Deemed to be University — has invited applications for 02 Project Associate posts under the National Quantum Mission Project "Field deployable quantum enhanced hybrid sensor with integrated photonic platform" in the Department of Nuclear and Atomic Physics. The fellowship ranges from Rs.25,000/- to Rs.42,000/- per month plus HRA, based on experience and qualification. Applications must be sent by email by 30 June 2026.

- Nature of Post: Temporary appointment for a period of 2 years, with possibility of extension for 3 more years subject to satisfactory performance
- Age Limit: Preferably below 30 years as on 30.06.2026
Eligibility Criteria
Essential Qualification:
- Master's Degree in Physics, Quantum Tech or a related discipline with a minimum of 60% marks, OR
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Technology in Engineering Physics, ECE, Optics with a minimum of 75% marks
- M.Sc. coursework with courses on atomic physics and quantum optics
- B.Tech./B.E. coursework in physics, electronics, analog & digital systems, optics
- Qualified in any national level test such as GATE, NET, JEST, TIFR, etc.
- Some hands-on experience in experiments is desirable
Job Responsibilities
The selected candidate will be involved in various tasks, such as:
- Designing of optical setup for laser cooling of atoms
- Laser spectroscopy
- Electronics for lasers, control circuits, designing and populating PCBs
- Development of the DAQ and related electronics for the setup
- Recording and analysing data from the vapor cell setup and ultracold atom setup
- Characterization of magnetometers in the field
- Documentation of experimental results and preparing reports
Salary & Benefits
Fellowship depends on experience and qualification of National Level Test:
- (a) No experience & not qualified valid test: Rs.25,000/- + HRA
- (b) No experience & qualified valid test: Rs.31,000/- + HRA
- (c) 2-year experience & not qualified valid test: Rs.28,000/- + HRA
- (d) 2-year experience & qualified valid test: Rs.35,000/- + HRA
- (e) 4-year experience in a related field: Rs.42,000/- + HRA
