The Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Mumbai — an Autonomous Institution of the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India and a Deemed to be University — has invited applications for 01 Project Assistant post under the National Quantum Mission Project "Field deployable quantum enhanced hybrid sensor with integrated photonic platform" in the Department of Nuclear and Atomic Physics. Eligibility Criteria

Essential Qualification:
  • Bachelor's degree in Science or Engineering in Physics, Applied Physics, Engineering Physics, Optics etc. with a minimum of 70% marks
Experience:
  • 6 months of hands-on experience in working with lasers, atomic spectroscopy and/or atomic magnetometry
Desirable:
  • Knowledge of optics, atomic physics and laser spectroscopy

Job Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be involved in various tasks, such as:
  • Laser spectroscopy
  • Electronics for lasers, control circuits, designing and populating PCBs
  • Setting up experiments on atomic magnetometry
  • Recording and analysing data from the magnetometry setup
  • Characterization of magnetometers in the field
  • Documentation of experimental results and preparing reports

Salary & Benefits
  • Fellowship: Rs.20,000/- per month
  • Tenure: Temporary appointment for a period of 1 year, extendable by one more year subject to satisfactory performance
