Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) Recruitment 2026 Notification Out | Apply Online for 5 GM, DGM & Manager Posts @ chennaimetrorail.org

Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL), a Joint Venture of Government of India and Government of Tamil Nadu, has released the official employment notification for the recruitment of qualified and experienced personnel for various senior-level positions on a regular basis. This recruitment drive aims to fill a total of 5 vacancies including General Manager (Operations), Deputy General Manager (Rolling Stock), Deputy General Manager (Automatic Fare Collection), and Manager (Automatic Fare Collection).

Eligible Indian nationals possessing the required educational qualifications and experience are invited to apply online through the CMRL Career Portal. The selection process comprises an interview followed by a medical examination. Candidates are advised to carefully check their eligibility criteria including age, educational qualification, and experience before applying online. The last date for submission of online applications is 20 July 2026.

Educational Qualifications & Experience Details

1. General Manager (Operations) – 01 Post

Qualification: B.E / B.Tech or any Graduate from a Govt recognized Institute/University approved by AICTE/UGC.

Experience:
  • Govt Organization: Officer working in Senior Administrative Grade (SAG) in Railways/Equivalent in GoI or Chief Engineer in State Govt organizations.
  • Metros/PSUs: Minimum 20 years post qualification executive experience with at least 3 years as AGM in IDA pay scale of Rs. 1,00,000 - 2,60,000 or equivalent.
  • Private Sector: Minimum 20 years post qualification executive experience with at least 03 years in top management positions equivalent to AGM in PSU reporting directly to Director/Board.
Project Size Requirement: Should have worked in companies with project size not less than Rs. 500 Crore OR annual turnover not less than Rs. 100 Crore in last 3 years.

Desired Experience: Operations & Maintenance in Railways/Metro or related field. Experience in UTO will be preferred.

2. Deputy General Manager (Rolling Stock) – 02 Posts

Qualification: B.E / B.Tech (Electrical/ECE) from a recognized Institute/University approved by AICTE/UGC.

Experience:
  • Govt Organization: Officer having 03 years of service in Senior Time Scale (STS) in Railways/Equivalent in GoI or Executive Engineer (EE) in State Govt with minimum 13 years post qualification executive experience.
  • Metros/PSUs: Minimum 13 years post qualification executive experience with at least 04 years as Manager in IDA pay scale of Rs. 70,000 - 2,00,000 or equivalent.
  • Private Sector: Minimum 13 years post qualification executive experience with at least 04 years in middle management positions equivalent to Manager in PSU reporting to senior management.
Project Size Requirement: Should have worked in companies with project size not less than Rs. 500 Crore OR annual turnover not less than Rs. 100 Crore in last 3 years.

Required Experience: Operations/Maintenance of Electric Rolling stock in Metro/Railways, Tendering for Procurement of Rolling Stock as per International competitive bidding, Design and Review of Rolling Stock Design, Testing, Commissioning and maintenance, Depot machines management, CMC contract management. Conversant with statutory clearance from RDSO, CMRS and GoI.

3. Deputy General Manager (AFC) – 01 Post

Qualification: BE/B.Tech in (ECE/EEE/IT/CSE) or combination of any of these disciplines from a recognized Institute/University approved by AICTE/UGC.

Experience:
  • Govt Organization: Officer having 03 years of service in Senior Time Scale (STS) in Railways/Equivalent in GoI or Executive Engineer (EE) in State Govt with minimum 13 years post qualification executive experience.
  • Metros/PSUs: Minimum 13 years post qualification executive experience with at least 04 years as Manager in IDA pay scale of Rs. 70,000 - 2,00,000 or equivalent.
  • Private Sector: Minimum 13 years post qualification executive experience with at least 04 years in middle management positions equivalent to Manager in PSU reporting to senior management.
Project Size Requirement: Should have worked in companies with project size not less than Rs. 500 Crore OR annual turnover not less than Rs. 100 Crore in last 3 years.

Required Experience: Planning, Design, Installation, Testing, Commissioning, Operation and Maintenance of AFC infrastructures such as AFC Gate and related ticketing systems & IT infrastructure, Networking, Switches, LAN/WAN servers & related Software, Software integration with third party software, Network Security, Cyber Security, ERP implementation.

4. Manager (Automatic Fare Collection) – 01 Post

Qualification: BE/B.Tech in (ECE/EEE/IT/CSE) or combination of any of these disciplines from a recognized Institute/University approved by AICTE/UGC.

Experience:
  • Govt Organization: Officer working in Senior Time Scale (STS) in Railways/Equivalent in GoI or Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) in State Govt with minimum 07 years post qualification executive experience.
  • Metros/PSUs: Minimum 07 years post qualification executive experience with at least 04 years as Deputy Manager in IDA pay scale of Rs. 60,000 - 1,80,000 or equivalent.
  • Private Sector: Minimum 07 years post qualification executive experience with at least 04 years in Middle management positions equivalent to Deputy Manager in PSU reporting to senior management.
Project Size Requirement: Should have worked in companies with project size not less than Rs. 200 Crore OR annual turnover not less than Rs. 50 Crore in last 3 years.
