Railway Recruitment Cell (RRC), North Central Railway is the nodal agency responsible for recruitment of Act Apprentices under the Apprentice Act 1961. The headquarters is located at Nawab Yusuf Road, Balmiki Chauraha, Civil Lines, Prayagraj - 211001. Essential Qualifications (as on 07 July 2026):
  • Educational Qualification: SSC/Matriculation/10th class examination or its equivalent (under 10+2 examination system) with minimum 50% marks in aggregate from a recognized Board.
  • Technical Qualification: ITI certificate/National Trade Certificate affiliated to NCVT/SCVT in relevant trade recognized by Government of India.

Reservation Guidelines
  • SC/ST Candidates: Must upload Caste certificate in Central Government format issued by appropriate authority (Annexure "B").
  • OBC Candidates: Must upload OBC Caste Certificate with Non-Creamy Layer certificate valid for 2026-2027 in Central Government format (Annexure "C") issued on or after 01/04/2026. Must also upload Self-declaration form (Annexure "D").
  • EWS Candidates: Family gross annual income below Rs. 8.00 Lakh. Must upload Income and Asset Certificate (Annexure "G") issued by competent authority.
  • PwBD Candidates: Must upload Disability Certificate (Annexure "E" & "F") issued by Medical Board duly constituted by Central/State Government.

Mode of Selection
  • Merit List Preparation: Based on average of percentage of marks obtained in Matriculation (minimum 50% aggregate) and ITI examination, giving equal weightage to both.
  • Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates (1.5 times of notified vacancies) will be called for document/certificate verification.
  • Tie-breaking Criteria: If two applicants have same marks, older age candidate will be preferred. If date of birth also same, candidate who passed matriculation earlier will be considered first.
  • No Written Test or Viva: Selection is purely merit-based.
Calculation of Marks:
  • SSC/Matriculation Marks: Total marks of all subjects mentioned in the mark sheet (not best of five - total of all subjects including optional/additional/alternate subjects).
  • ITI Marks: Average marks mentioned in consolidated statement of marks for all semesters of the trade applied.
  • Important: Any discrepancy in marks/CGPA entered in online application and original mark sheet will lead to rejection of candidature.

Medical Fitness & Physical Standards
  • Selected candidates called for Document Verification must submit Medical Certificate (Annexure "H") signed by Government authorized Doctor (Gaz.) not below rank of Assistant Surgeon of Central/State Hospital.
Physical Standards:
  • Height: Minimum 137 cm
  • Weight: Minimum 25.4 kg
  • Chest expansion: Not less than 3.8 cm
Disability Categories & Trades:
  • Locomotor Disability (LD, OH): Fitter, Welder, Electrician, Stenographer (English) - as per specified maximum disability limits.
  • Visually Impaired (VI): Fitter/Plumber, Stenographer (English) - Low vision as per specified criteria.
  • Hearing Impaired (HI, HH): Fitter, Welder, Carpenter, Painter, Mechanic (Diesel), Electrician - Deaf/Dumb/Deaf & Dumb.

Training Period & Stipend
  • Training Period: 01 (One) year
  • Stipend: Paid at prescribed rate as per extant rules governed by concerned State Governments & instructions issued by Railway Board.

  • Fill up the online application form with your personal details (Aadhar number/PAN number/Marks/CGPA/Preferences for Divisions/Workshops/Trade)
  • Upload scanned copy of required documents (PDF format, 50 KB to 200 KB):
  • SSC (Standard 10th) or equivalent Mark Sheet
  • Date of Birth Proof (10th Certificate/Mark Sheet/School Leaving Certificate)
  • Consolidated ITI Mark Sheet of all semesters (Provisional National Trade Certificate)
  • National Trade Certificate issued by NCVT or Provisional NCVT/SCVT Certificate
  • Caste Certificate (SC/ST/OBC) in Annexure "B", "C" & "D" (if applicable)
  • EWS Certificate in Annexure "G" (if applicable)
  • Disability Certificate in Annexure "E" & "F" (if applicable)
  • Discharge Certificate/Serving Certificate (Ex-Servicemen)
  • Color Photograph (3.5cm x 3.5cm, JPG/JPEG, 100 DPI, 20-70 KB) - taken not later than one month

  • Download and print the online application form for future reference
Important Notes:
  • Applicants must have a valid personal e-mail ID and active mobile number throughout the engagement process.
  • Only one application per candidate for the same trade is allowed.
  • Application once submitted cannot be altered under any circumstances.
  • No hard copy of the application is required to be sent.
  • Applicants should ensure their name, father's name, and date of birth exactly match as recorded in Matriculation or equivalent certificate.
  • Any discrepancy found during Document Verification will lead to cancellation of candidature.

Important Instructions for Candidates
