The CSIR-CMERI Centre of Excellence for Farm Machinery (CoEFM), Ludhiana has released Advertisement No. CMERI/CoEFM/2026/02 for a Walk-in Interview to engage project personnel in 5 positions of Project Associate-II, Project Associate-I, Project JRF and Project Assistant-II under various ongoing projects.

Eligible B.E./B.Tech, M.E./M.Tech and Diploma holders in Mechanical / Agricultural Engineering / Mechatronics can appear directly for the Walk-in Interview on 10 July 2026 (Friday) at CoEFM, Gill Road, Ludhiana. Reporting time is 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM. Consolidated remuneration goes up to ₹37,000 + HRA per month depending on the post.

The engagement is purely temporary and on contract basis, up to 31 March 2027 (extendable) or co-terminus with the respective project. No online application is required in advance — candidates must appear in person with the filled-in application form available on the Institute website.

About the Organization

The CSIR-CMERI Centre of Excellence for Farm Machinery (CoEFM), Ludhiana was established in 1965 as an extension centre of the Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute, Durgapur, under the aegis of the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), an autonomous body under the Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India.

The present priority area of research of the centre is Smart Farm Machines and Technologies. Selected candidates will get the opportunity of hands-on training and exposure to working under different R&D projects at state-of-the-art laboratories.

  • The actual number of positions may vary on the date of the Walk-in Interview, even across disciplines or projects.
  • The higher remuneration slab applies to candidates who have qualified CSIR-UGC / ICAR / ICMR NET (including lectureship / assistant professorship) or GATE, or national level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments like DBT/DST or their agencies/institutions.
  • HRA is payable as per DST OM DST/PCPM/Z-06/2022 dated 26.06.2023. Fellowship holders residing in hostels are not entitled to HRA.

Eligibility Criteria
  • Project JRF (P602): Graduate / Post Graduate Degree in Engineering or Technology in Mechanical Engineering / Agriculture Engineering / Mechatronics from a recognized University, selected through CSIR-UGC NET (including lectureship / Assistant Professorship) or GATE, or through national level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their agencies/institutions such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MoE, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER, NISER etc.
  • Project Associate-II (P601, P602): Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Technology in Mechanical Engineering / Agricultural Engineering / Mechatronics from a recognized University or equivalent with 2 years' experience in Research and Development in Industrial and Academic Institutions or Science and Technology Organizations and Scientific activities and services, OR Masters / Integrated Masters in Engineering or Technology in Mechanical Engineering / Agricultural Engineering / Mechatronics from a recognized University.
  • Project Associate-I (P601, P602, P603, P604): Bachelor's degree (B.E./B.Tech) in Engineering or Technology in Mechanical Engineering / Agriculture Engineering / Mechatronics from a recognized University or equivalent.
  • Project Assistant-II (P605): 3 years Diploma in Agricultural Engineering / Mechanical Engineering from a recognized University.
  • Desirable (all posts): Knowledge of CAD software, mechanical fabrication techniques and design and development of agricultural machinery.
  • Upper Age Limit: 35 years for Project Associate-I & II and Project Assistant-II; 28 years for Project JRF. Age relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD and Women candidates as per Government of India / CSIR rules.
  • The date for determining the upper age limit, qualification and experience will be the date of interview of the respective Post Code.

Salary & Benefits
  • Project JRF: ₹37,000 + HRA per month
  • Project Associate-II: ₹35,000 + HRA (NET/GATE qualified) or ₹28,000 + HRA per month

Job Responsibilities
  • Working under various R&D projects in the area of Smart Farm Machines and Technologies at the centre's advanced laboratories.

Selection Process
  • Selection will be made through a Walk-in Interview before the Selection Committee on 10 July 2026.
  • Candidates reporting between 9:00 AM and 10:30 AM will be allowed to participate.
  • Hindi / English language can be opted as the medium of communication during the interview.
  • The selection process may continue till late evening or the next day, so candidates are advised to come prepared accordingly.
  • The decision of CSIR-CMERI regarding the selection process will be final and binding; no correspondence will be entertained.

How to Attend the Walk-in Interview
  1. Download the Application Form available on the Institute website and read it thoroughly.
  2. Fill in the Application Form completely before the interview date.
  3. Reach the venue — CSIR-CMERI Centre of Excellence for Farm Machinery, Opp. GNE College, Gill Road, Ludhiana-141006, Punjab — on 10 July 2026 between 9:00 AM and 10:30 AM.
  4. Appear before the Selection Committee with all original certificates, self-attested photocopies, mark sheets and a recent passport size photograph along with the filled-in Application Form.
  5. Candidates currently engaged in any project at CSIR-CMERI or any other CSIR Lab/Institute must produce an NOC from the Competent Authority, failing which they will not be allowed to appear.
No TA/DA will be paid for attending the Walk-in Interview.

Important Instructions
  • The engagement is purely temporary and on contract basis; the tenure is co-terminus with the project or till the requirement exists, whichever is earlier, and may be curtailed or extended.
  • Candidates who have already worked in CSIR-CMERI or any other CSIR Lab/Institute as Trainee / Project Assistant / Project Fellow / JRF / SRF / Project Associate / Research Associate etc. for a period of 6 years or more are not eligible.
  • Candidates who have worked for less than 6 years will, upon selection, have their tenure automatically end on completion of six years.
  • If at any stage it is found that a candidate does not fulfil the eligibility criteria, the candidature will be cancelled without assigning any reason.
  • Offer of engagement will be issued subject to availability of funds and approval of the Competent Authority.
  • The engagement confers no claim or right for continuation, absorption or regularization in CSIR / CSIR-CMERI.
  • In case of any doubt / discrepancy between the Hindi and English versions of the advertisement, the English version will be treated as final.
