CSIR-TKDL Recruitment 2026 | 5 Project Associate-I Posts in Material Science, Metallurgy, Patent, Agriculture & IT | Written Test / Interview at New Delhi
The CSIR-Traditional Knowledge Digital Library Unit (CSIR-TKDL Unit), New Delhi has released Advertisement No. TKDL/03/2026 for the engagement of 5 Project Associate-I (PAT-I) positions under its ongoing digitization projects on Indian traditional practices in minerals, metals, materials and agriculture.
Eligible B.E./B.Tech and Master's Degree holders can apply online at csir.res.in up to 23 July 2026 (5:00 PM). Monthly emoluments go up to ₹31,000 + HRA for NET/GATE qualified candidates. The written test / interview will be held at the CSIR-TKDL Unit, New Delhi on 27 and 28 July 2026.
The engagement is purely temporary and on contract basis, valid up to 31 March 2027 or co-terminus with the project duration. The place of work is New Delhi.

About the Organization
The CSIR-Traditional Knowledge Digital Library (CSIR-TKDL) Unit is a constituent of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), an autonomous body under the Department of Scientific & Industrial Research, Ministry of Science and Technology.
The Unit works on the protection and preservation of India's vast traditional knowledge available in ancient texts by digitizing the information into modern languages in a structured format. Its key objective is to prevent misappropriation of Indian traditional knowledge through wrongful acquisition of intellectual property rights. The current openings are under the projects "Digitization of Indian Traditional Practices on Minerals, Metals, Materials and Allied Areas" (HCP522403) and "Digitization of Traditional Agricultural Practices of India" (HCP522401).

Eligibility Criteria
- TKM01 – PAT-I (Material Science): B.E./B.Tech in Materials Engg. / Materials Science & Engg. / Mineral Engg. / Chemical Engg. or Master's Degree in Material Science / Chemistry or equivalent.
- TKM02 – PAT-I (Metallurgy): B.E./B.Tech in Metallurgy / Metallurgical Engg. or Master's Degree in Chemistry or equivalent.
- TKM03 – PAT-I (Patent): B.E./B.Tech in Metallurgy / Metallurgical Engg. / Materials Engg. / Materials Science & Engg. / Mineral Engg. / Chemical Engg. or Master's Degree in Material Science / Chemistry or equivalent. Desirable: Proficiency in Patent Analytics / Patent Informatics / PG Diploma in IPR, with good written and oral English skills.
- TKA01 – PAT-I (Agriculture): Master's / Integrated Master's Degree in Agriculture / Agronomy / Horticulture / Animal Science / any branch of Veterinary Sciences / Zoology from a recognized University or equivalent. Desirable: Experience in documenting Traditional Agricultural Knowledge.
- TKA02 – PAT-I (IT): B.E./B.Tech in Computer Science / Information Technology from a recognized University or equivalent, or MCA. Desirable: Proficiency in Python and Python web frameworks, use of AI in language processing, Core Java, J2EE, EJB, Spring, Struts, Hibernate, Maven, Rest, SOAP, IDEs like Eclipse / NetBeans / IntelliJ IDEA, relational databases (SQLServer, PostgreSQL), or hardware / software / firewall administration, VMWare and network administration.
- Age Limit: 35 years. Relaxation of 5 years for SC/ST/PwBD/Women and 3 years for OBC candidates as per CSIR / Govt. of India rules.
- Only candidates whose final result has been declared (with at least a provisional certificate) are eligible. Result-awaited / final semester appeared candidates are not eligible.
Salary & Benefits
- ₹31,000 + HRA per month for candidates who have qualified CSIR-UGC / ICAR / ICMR NET (including lectureship / assistant professorship) or GATE, or equivalent national level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments like DBT / DST or their agencies.
- ₹25,000 + HRA per month for all other candidates.
- HRA is payable as per the extant Government of India rules applicable to CSIR employees.

Job Responsibilities
- Digitization of India's traditional knowledge from ancient texts into modern languages in a structured format.
- For the Agriculture post: identification of traditional agricultural practices from ancient classical texts and other literature, and their interpretation in the context of agricultural subject matter.
- For the IT post: software development and maintenance work related to the TKDL database and network administration.
- Project personnel may be required to travel as per project needs.
Selection Process
- Written Test at CSIR-TKDL Unit, New Delhi on the reporting date mentioned against each post.
- Interview of shortlisted candidates on the same day or another day, as informed after the written test.
- Candidates must wait for the result of the written examination / further instructions unless informed otherwise.
- Mere fulfilment of minimum qualification does not confer any right to be called for the written test / interview.

Important Instructions
- The engagement is purely temporary, time-bound and on contract basis up to 31 March 2027 or co-terminus with the project, and confers no right to permanent employment or regularization in CSIR.
- Candidates must fulfil the essential criteria as on the date of the written test / interview.
- The total period of engagement under one or more CSIR projects, taken together, must not exceed 6 years.
- The contract may be terminated at any time with one month's notice from either side or one month's stipend in lieu thereof.
- Performance will be reviewed periodically; personnel not found up to the mark may be terminated without assigning any reason.
- No TA/DA will be paid for attending the written test / interview.
- Selected candidates must furnish a character certificate and a medical fitness certificate, and sign a confidentiality undertaking regarding project findings and intellectual property.
- Head, CSIR-TKDL Unit reserves the right to increase / decrease the number of positions or cancel the engagement process at any stage; the decision of the Head will be final and binding.
