About NDMA
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) is the apex body in India responsible for laying down policies, plans and guidelines for disaster management. It works under the Government of India and coordinates with central ministries, state governments and international agencies for disaster preparedness, mitigation and response.
NDMA handles everything from flood response and earthquake preparedness to policy-level disaster risk reduction across the country. It regularly hires domain experts and consultants to strengthen its technical and operational capacity.
This particular vacancy is for a Senior Consultant who will specifically work on the Disaster Database – a critical function involving data management, analysis and reporting related to disaster incidents across India.

Eligibility Criteria
Essential Qualification:
- Master's degree in Computer Applications (MCA), Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Disaster Management, or GIS
- OR Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) or Engineering (B.E.) in Computer Science or Information Technology with a strong background in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or Economics
- Technical education as defined by All India Qualification Council (AICTE)
- M.Phil or Ph.D. in DRR (Disaster Risk Reduction) related fields
- Research experience and published papers in relevant field
- Ph.D. from a reputed university will be given additional weightage
- Candidates must have sound understanding of data management and fluency in written and spoken English
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in managing/handling data related to Disaster Management
- Should have worked with a government agency, leading regional or international organization, or a public sector agency
- Experience in multi-stakeholder coordination, data analysis, and setting up databases is preferred
- Retired Govt. employees with Grade Pay of Rs. 8,700 (Pre-revised) / Level-13 (7th CPC) with experience in relevant fields are also eligible
- Maximum age limit for retired Govt. employees is 62 years
Age Limit
- Maximum Age: 50 years for Senior Consultant
- For Retired Govt. Employees: Maximum age limit is 62 years
Salary / Remuneration
- Remuneration Band: Rs. 1,25,000 to Rs. 1,75,000 per month
- For retired Government employees engaged as Consultant, remuneration will be regulated as per Ministry of Finance, Department of Expenditure O.M. No. 3-25/2020-E.III.A dated 09th December 2020
Job Responsibilities
- Managing and handling data related to Disaster Management at national level
- Working with government agencies, regional and international organizations on DM data projects
- Multi-stakeholder coordination and working on data analysis tasks
- Setting up and maintaining disaster-related databases
- Preparing reports and documentation related to disaster incidents and recovery
- Supporting NDMA's policy and planning team with data-driven insights
