North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS), Shillong, an Autonomous Institute under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, has released an addendum to the Institute's Advertisement for Faculty Posts No. EST-II-RFAC0FSEL/1/2025-Estt.II dated 08.05.2026. This addendum adds new faculty vacancies in the Departments of Neurosurgery, Physiology, and Radiation Oncology for the post of Assistant Professor.
Eligible candidates possessing the required medical qualifications including MBBS with MD/M.Ch. or equivalent recognized degrees and the requisite teaching/research experience are invited to apply. Non-medical candidates may apply for the post in Physiology provided their educational qualification and experience are in accordance with the NMC Notification dated 14.02.2022. Educational Qualifications & Experience
Academic Qualification: Qualification recognised by the National Medical Commission (NMC) as included in the "Teachers Eligibility Qualifications in Medical Institutions Regulations, 2022" of the NMC.
DNB Equivalence: Candidates holding DNB in broad specialty or superspecialty as qualifying degree have to produce documentary evidence in support of equivalence of qualification of DNB (Broad Specialties) with MD/MS and DNB (Super Specialties) with DM/MCh as per the NMC Notification dated 14.02.2022.

1. Assistant Professor (Neurosurgery) – 01 Post (UR)
Essential Qualification:
- A medical qualification included in the First or Second Schedule or Part-II of the Third Schedule to the Indian Medical Council Act of 1956.
- M.Ch. (2 years or 3 years or 5 years recognized course) or qualification recognized equivalent thereto in Neurosurgery.
- One year teaching and/or research experience in a recognized Institution in the subject of speciality after obtaining the qualifying degree of M.Ch. (2 years or 5 years course recognized after MBBS) or qualification recognized equivalent thereto. [Note: No experience is necessary for candidates possessing the 3 years recognized degree of M.Ch. or qualification recognized equivalent thereto.]
- Candidate must be registered with the Central/State Medical Council.
2. Assistant Professor (Physiology) – 01 Post (UR)
Essential Qualification:
- A medical qualification included in the First or Second Schedule or Part-II of the Third Schedule to the Indian Medical Council Act of 1956.
- A postgraduate qualification e.g. M.D. or a recognized qualification equivalent thereto in Physiology.
- Three years teaching and/or research experience in a recognized Institution in the subject of speciality after obtaining the qualifying degree of M.D. or qualification recognized equivalent thereto.
- Candidate must be registered with the Central/State Medical Council.

3. Assistant Professor (Radiation Oncology) – 01 Post (UR)
Essential Qualification:
- A medical qualification included in the First or Second Schedule or Part-II of the Third Schedule to the Indian Medical Council Act of 1956.
- A postgraduate qualification e.g. M.D. or a recognized qualification equivalent thereto in Radiation Oncology.
- Three years teaching and/or research experience in a recognized Institution in the subject of speciality after obtaining the qualifying degree of M.D. or qualification recognized equivalent thereto.
- Candidate must be registered with the Central/State Medical Council.

Mode of Recruitment
- Direct Recruitment (failing which by Deputation/Absorption basis)
- Persons working in analogous post or post one level below shall be eligible for consideration provided they fulfil the requisite qualification & experience prescribed for direct recruit.
- Period of deputation shall ordinarily not exceed 3 (three) years at a time.
- Pay of Faculty Members will be protected as per Govt. of India Rules.
- Upper age limit for candidate willing to come on deputation should not exceed 56 years as on the last date of submission of application.

Important Instructions
- This is an addendum to the main faculty recruitment advertisement dated 08.05.2026.
- All other terms & conditions shall be as per the main Advertisement dated 08.05.2026.
- Non-medical candidates may apply for Physiology only if their qualifications and experience are as per NMC Notification dated 14.02.2022.
- Candidates must be registered with the Central/State Medical Council.
- The crucial date for determining Age limit, qualifications and experience will be the last date of receipt of application.
- Reservation and/or relaxation to SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwBD/Ex-SM shall be admissible as per Govt. of India rules.
- OBC candidates must produce latest OBC (NCL) certificate for current financial year 2026-27.
- EWS candidates must have valid EWS certificate for 2026-27 in prescribed format.
- Candidates working in Central/State/UT Government Organizations/PSUs/Autonomous Bodies must submit NOC.
- Period of probation for all faculty posts is for two years.
- Incomplete applications will be summarily rejected.
