── About the Organisation ──

North Eastern Council (NEC) Secretariat functions under the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region, Government of India. It is headquartered at Nongrim Hills, Shillong – 793003, Meghalaya.

The North Eastern Council is a statutory advisory body constituted under the North Eastern Council Act, 1971. It plays a key role in coordinating and recommending policies related to economic and social development of the eight North Eastern states – Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura.

This recruitment is being conducted to fill 03 posts of Senior Secretariat Assistant on deputation basis. Notification reference: No. ADMN-13012/2/2017-ADMN.

Post – Senior Secretariat Assistant

── Eligibility Conditions ──

Eligible Officers: Officers under the Central Government or State Government or Union Territory Administration fulfilling any one of the following:
  • Holding analogous post on regular basis in the parent cadre or department; OR
  • 8 years of regular service in the grade rendered after appointment on regular basis as Junior Secretariat Assistant in Level 2 (Rs. 19900–63200) or equivalent in the parent cadre or department
Important Note on Eligibility:
  • Departmental officers in the feeder category who are in the direct line of promotion will not be eligible for consideration on deputation
  • Deputationists shall not be eligible for consideration for appointment by promotion
Age Limit: Maximum 56 years as on the closing date of receipt of applications.

  • Pay Matrix Level 4 – Rs. 25500 to Rs. 81100 (7th CPC)
Pay and other terms and conditions of deputation will be regulated as per DoPT's O.M. No. 6/8/2009-Estt. (Pay-II) dated 17.06.2010 and No. 2/11/2017-Estt. (Pay-II) dated 24.11.2017 and amendments issued from time to time.

── Job Responsibilities ──
  • Work under the orders of the Sectoral Head/Section Officer and handle all work entrusted
  • Process and examine various correspondences in files
  • Prepare drafts with noting on files
  • Point out any mistake or misstatement of facts
  • Verify that all facts stated are open to check and correctly stated
  • Draw attention to precedents or Rules and Regulations on the subject wherever necessary
  • Put up files if necessary and supply other relevant facts and figures
  • Bring out clearly the question under consideration and suggest a course of action wherever possible
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly statements of the Sector/Section
  • Extend guidance to JSA relating to work allotted to JSA if there is no Assistant
  • Perform any other task assigned by the officer or Deputy Secretary/Director (Admn.) from time to time
