Eligibility Criteria
  • Method of Appointment: Direct Recruitment
  • Note: Differently Abled and Female candidates are not eligible to apply for this post.

Age Limit
  • Age Range: 20 to 35 years
  • Born Between: 02 January 1991 and 01 January 2006 (both dates included)
  • OBC and SC/ST candidates are eligible for usual age relaxation as per Government of Kerala rules.
  • For Clerks of Fire & Rescue Department, the upper age limit for appointment as Station Officer by direct recruitment shall be 43 years.
  • Other conditions regarding age relaxation are not applicable to this post.

Qualifications

Essential Qualification:
  • Graduation in Science from a recognized University, preferably in Chemistry.
Note: KS & SSR Part II Rule 10(a)(ii) is applicable.

Preferential Qualification:
  • A good record in Sports and Games.
Note: Only International, National, Interzonal, Inter-state or State sporting events organized or re-organized by any of the organizations listed in Appendix VII of the Kerala Service Rules shall be accepted for this purpose.

Candidates must possess the following minimum physical standards:

Important Notes:
  • Physical measurements will be taken prior to the Physical Efficiency Test.
  • Candidates who do not satisfy the prescribed physical standards will not be allowed to participate in the Physical Efficiency Test under any circumstances.
  • If accidents or injuries happen to a candidate in the Physical Efficiency Test, he will not be given further chance to participate in the test.

Note:
  • Each eye must have full field of vision.
  • Colour Blindness, Squint or any morbid conditions of the eyes or lids of either eye shall be a disqualification for appointment.
  • Candidates should produce a Medical Certificate issued by a Medical Officer not below the rank of a Civil Surgeon as to the candidate's physique, fitness and capacity for rough outdoor work and also of the visual standards when the commission intimates.

Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

A Physical Efficiency Test will be conducted by the commission to assess the physical efficiency of the candidates. Candidates must qualify in at least 5 out of 8 items in the physical efficiency test showing the minimum standards of efficiency.

Weightage Marks
  • NCC Cadets: Having 'A' Certificate - 2%, 'B' Certificate - 3%, 'C' Certificate - 5% as per GO(Ms) No. 112/2007/H.Edn dated 21.08.2007.
  • Meritorious Sports Persons: Extra marks as per para 6 of the General Conditions.
  • Students Police Cadet (SPC): Weightage marks as per GO(Ms) No. 06/2025/P&ARD dated 01.03.2025.

Bond

A person appointed by direct recruitment to the post of Station Officer shall execute a bond as given in Annexure IV, binding himself to serve in the department for a period of 7 years, and shall pay to Government an amount prescribed by the Government, in case he fails to serve in the department for the said period.

Probation
  • Every person appointed to the post shall from the date on which he joins duty be on probation for a total period of two years on duty within a continuous period of three years.
  • He shall within the prescribed period of probation, pass the following tests if he has not already passed them:
  • The Department Test in the Kerala Fire Force Standing Orders and Practice.
  • St. John's Ambulance Examination in First Aid.
  • Account Test (Lower).

Training
  • Course of initial training for the prescribed period in the State Fire Service Training School / National Fire Service College, Nagpur or any other recognized Fire Service Institution and a pass in the examination in the subjects prescribed for the course.
  • After the above course, training for an actual period of six months on duty with a fully trained Assistant Divisional Officer / Station Officer before independent posting to station.

Ranked List Validity
  • The Ranked List of candidates published by the Commission shall cease to be in force after one year from the date of finalization of Ranked List.
  • Candidates will be advised from the said list against the vacancies that may be reported and pending before the Commission and the vacancies that may be reported to the Commission during the period of the currency of the list.

Important Instructions for Candidates
  • Candidates who receive a profile message at any stage directing them to upload documents to prove their qualifications should do so within the stipulated time; otherwise, they will not be considered for the next stage.
  • In case of difference in Caste/Community claimed in the application and that entered in SSLC book, the candidate shall produce a Gazette Notification in this regard, along with Non-Creamy Layer Certificate / Community Certificate at the time of certificate verification.
