The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the official notification for the Senior Secretariat Assistant (SSA) / Upper Division Clerk (UDC) Grade Limited Departmental Competitive Examination (LDCE), 2025 under the Central Secretariat Clerical Service (CSCS) Cadre of the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT).
As per the official Corrigendum dated 29 June 2026, the Commission has re-opened the online application portal and revised the application schedule. Eligible departmental candidates can now submit their online applications up to 02 July 2026 (11:00 PM). The Computer Based Examination (CBE) is tentatively scheduled to be held in August 2026.

About SSC SSA / UDC Recruitment 2026
The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts the Senior Secretariat Assistant / Upper Division Clerk Grade Limited Departmental Competitive Examination (LDCE) for preparing the Select List for promotion to the Senior Secretariat Assistant / Upper Division Clerk Grade under the Central Secretariat Clerical Service (CSCS) of the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT).
The recruitment is meant exclusively for eligible departmental Lower Division Clerks (LDCs) who satisfy the prescribed service conditions. Selection is based on a Computer Based Examination followed by Evaluation of Annual Performance Appraisal Reports (APARs).

The Staff Selection Commission has issued an official Corrigendum revising certain provisions of the original notification.
- Online application portal re-opened from 29 June 2026 (06:00 PM).
- Last date for online applications extended to 02 July 2026 (11:00 PM).
- Last date for receipt of printed applications revised to 09 July 2026 (06:00 PM).
- Candidates residing abroad, Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep can submit printed applications up to 16 July 2026 (06:00 PM).
- For candidates belonging to the Central Passport Organisation, Ministry of External Affairs, the qualifying service requirement for Junior Passport Assistant has been relaxed from 6 years to 4 years and 11 months.
- All other terms and conditions of the original notification remain unchanged.

Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must satisfy all eligibility conditions prescribed in the official notification and the Corrigendum.
- Must be a regularly appointed Lower Division Clerk (LDC) in the Central Secretariat Clerical Service (CSCS).
- Must satisfy the eligibility conditions prescribed in the official notification and Corrigendum dated 29 June 2026.
- Must possess the required qualifying service on the prescribed cut-off date.
- Candidates belonging to the Central Passport Organisation shall follow the revised qualifying service requirement mentioned in the Corrigendum.
- Must possess the prescribed educational qualification wherever applicable.
- Must have passed the prescribed Typewriting Test unless exempted under Government rules.
Age Limit
No separate age limit has been prescribed in the notification. Candidates must satisfy the departmental eligibility and service conditions laid down by the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT).

Salary
Selected candidates will be appointed in:
- Pay Level-4
- Pay Scale: ₹25,500 – ₹81,100
- Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Transport Allowance (TA) and other admissible Central Government allowances.
Selection Process
Selection will be carried out in the following stages:
- Computer Based Examination (200 Marks)
- Evaluation of Annual Performance Appraisal Reports (APARs) – 100 Marks
- Preparation of Final Merit List

Computer Based Examination Pattern
The Computer Based Examination (CBE) will consist of Objective Type Multiple Choice Questions carrying a total of 200 marks. Candidates will be shortlisted for APAR evaluation based on their performance in the examination.
