About Deogarh

Deogarh, also known as Debagarh, is a district located in the north-western part of the state of Odisha, India. Carved out of Sambalpur district in 1994, it is one of the youngest districts of Odisha. Deogarh is known for its natural beauty, waterfalls, forests, and rich cultural heritage.

The district is home to picturesque landscapes like the Pradhanpat and Kurudkut waterfalls, making it a notable eco-tourism destination. It also holds historical significance due to its association with the Bamanda princely state, which was progressive in introducing telegraph and postal services during the British era.

The headquarters of the district is Deogarh town, which serves as the administrative and judicial center, housing the Office of the District Judge and various government institutions.

Economically, Deogarh is primarily agrarian, with pockets of mining and forestry. The region is gradually developing in terms of infrastructure and public services.
