Eligibility Criteria

Essential Qualification

JSA: 10+2/XII, typing (35 w.p.m. English/30 w.p.m. Hindi).
Junior Stenographer: 10+2/XII, stenography (80 w.p.m., transcription: 50/65 min English/Hindi).
Desirable: Degree (Arts/Science/Commerce), computer skills (MS Office, Excel, PowerPoint).

Age Limit

JSA: Max 28 years as of 17-06-2025.
Junior Stenographer: Max 27 years.
Relaxations: SC/ST: 5 yrs; OBC: 3 yrs; PwBD: 10 yrs (15 SC/ST, 13 OBC); ESM: 3 yrs (8 for SC/ST if disabled); Widows/Divorced Women: Up to 35 yrs (40 SC/ST).

Salary

Junior Secretariat Assistant (Gen/F&A/S&P):
- Pay Level-2 (₹19,900–63,200, 7th CPC).
- Approx. ₹38,483/month (including allowances).
Junior Stenographer:
- Pay Level-4 (₹25,500–81,100, 7th CPC).
- Approx. ₹44,523/month (including allowances).
Additional Benefits: DA, HRA, TA, medical reimbursement, LTC, House Building Advance, as per CSIR rules. Governed by the National Pension System (effective from 01-01-2004).

Job Requirements

Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA): Assist in General Administration, Finance & Accounts, or Stores & Purchase functions, plus other official tasks as assigned.
Junior Stenographer (JST): Provide secretarial/stenographic assistance, typing, and other official tasks as assigned.

Selection Process

JSA: Written exam (Paper-I: Mental Ability, Paper-II: General Awareness, English Language), typing test.
Junior Stenographer: Written exam (General Intelligence, Awareness, English), stenography test.

Exemptions: SC/ST/PwBD/Ex-Servicemen/Women and regular CSIR employees are exempt.
